Walk With the Warriors Inc. First and foremost "Walks With the Warriors Inc."
want to say....., We say this to all of our warrior no matter when or where you served, peace time, war time, you served and to that we are thankful, and we recognize your service. I am happy to announce that our annual "Walk with the Warriors" 2007 event was a great success. Thank you to all those that made it possible. We are moving forward in a very positive manner to make Nov. 7th. National Native American Indian Veterans Day. We stared the day Saturday, Nov. 10th. at the Pentagon parking lot. Once assembled we were allowed to enter the Pentagon where we proceeded to the inner courtyard. Inside the Pentagon middle courtyard we formed a prayer circle. Sacred songs were song, and we were able to share pipes with one another. At the end of our ceremony a Red Tailed Hawk was seen circling over head. We
then began our Vigil Walk, that took us to "The Wall". When we
arrived the
After that we were free to socialize with the rest of the Veterans that were there. It was also the 25th anniversary of The Wall. There were lots and lots of Veterans there. Vets from WWII up to present day Vets. A few Veterans organizations used that time in DC to have unit re-unions. The hotel were we stayed was hosting 82nd Airborne. I felt right at home, having been a member of 18th. Airborne. As we marched along the way we were greeted by many Veterans and non-veterans alike. As we arrived at the memorial where most of the Veterans were gathered were were warmly received. Most everyone we met was very glad we were making our presence known. In the evening we had a small banquet dinner at The Hyatt Hotel. Hosted by the Navajo Nation-Dept. of Veterans Affairs. Leo Chischilly Director, Manager of the Navajo Nation Dept. of Veterans Affairs was in attendance. After the banquet we headed over to the base of the Washington Memorial where NAC meetings were being held. A few years back we started out with just one tipi. Last year we had two tipis. This year we had three. They were all full. So we can see that the movement is growing. It is through prayers that we survive, and the addition of tipis is the addition of prayers. That will make us stronger. The next morning after we came out of the tipis, visited with one another. Renewed bonds with extended family members, and made new family members. We were fed by some very kind and generous NAC members. Thanks. When all was done and tipis taken down we were graced by the soaring majesty of our National Symbol "The Bald Eagle" We all felt really blessed to see that "Sacred Bird" flying over the Nations' Capital, and no doubt looking down at us. We all gave thanks to The Creator. **************************************************** There were lots of photos taken over the Veterans Day Holiday, anyone that would like to have their photos published on this website just send them to me at: Email me.
